Full renovation and extension of an old, large farmhouse secluded on the hills between Montone and Pietralunga. The original farmhouse had been restored over 20 years ago and was in need of some kind of refurbishment, which was carried out together with a major extension. The extension is sympathetic with the original building and although (for seismic reasons) the structure is in reinforced concrete, the walls are all in facing stone, with lime pointing. Everything is built with in the traditional way, with cotto and stone floor, chestnut timber and terracotta ceiling tiles. The house is equipped with energy-efficient heating (pellet boiler with underfloor heating) and both photovoltaic and solar thermal panels.
